Our weather has turned quite chilly for here, but I'm loving it. We are supposed to see some more rain on Thanksgiving.
TO DO FOR THE WEEK
- Write formal complaint letter to foundation company.
- Move boxes from bedroom to living room.
- Empty Attic.
- Remove carpet, padding and tack strip.
- Treat foundation to remove odors.
- Remove old moldings and prep new.
- Strip wall paper.
- Prep walls for paint.
- Change out old ceiling fan for new.
- Paint.
I have been too tired to do much more than fall in bed after the 10-15 hour days of serious manual labor recently, but am hoping to finish this book soon.

TELEVISION / DVR
LOL who has time? We also can't get internet and TV until after the foundation work is completed this week so have seen a few DVDs in the little down time we have forced ourselves to take.
HOUSE PROJECTS
I will have to keep you posted on this category. There is so much to do that we are still trying to make a priority list for after the bedroom!
LOL this category is HUGE right now, but I am hoping to get my new range by Christmas!

HOMEMAKING/COOKING TIP
A small bowl of apple cider vinegar on the kitchen counter will attract fruit flies and eliminate them for you.
ON MY MIND
When did saying NO become an open door to sales pitch? Why is it that so many stores are trying to guilt you into accepting their charge cards? The cashier at Target yesterday actually asked me what I had against saving money that I wouldn't want their card.
THINGS THAT ARE MAKING ME HAPPY
- To do list is coming together and even seeming more manageable.
- Being together and moving forward side by side.
We've been working really hard to clean up the mess left by the worker's last week. I've always thought I could have lived in pioneer times and this week Laura Ingalls Wilder keeps coming to mind as I function in limited space with no range. The refrigerator at least came last Friday and I'm so in love with it! This poor kitchen area has been moved 3 times to accommodate construction.
I think my favorite movie of ALL time is Frank Capra's, It's A Wonderful Life. Hubby and I came here expecting one thing and were presented with something so much worse. BUT, as we work through this I keep thinking about the old place that George and Mary Bailey made a home and realize that anyplace with the right person is GREAT!

I enjoyed visiting. I linked for the first time in ages. I enjoyed reading about your week.

DeleteHappy Gobble Gobble Thanksgiving week Sweetie!!
ReplyDeleteI feel so badly for you working so hard! I hope Thursday you can take a nice break and enjoy the day fully. It's so awful that the foundation issues are such an awful thorn in your side. Ggrrr!!
Praying for that to be resolved soon and for you to have a wonderful and very blessed Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for blogland buddies like you my Tamy-girl!! ;)
xoxo
Happy Thanksgiving my sweet friend. Hope you will b having a blessed day with family and friends. We will be at my uncle's house. We will be taking both Wednesday and Thursday off and trying to relax.
DeleteI am in the process of a very thorough and comprehensive letter to the foundation people - we will see what they say. I think here should be some compensation for all my time and work!
Happy Thanksgiving Friend!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to live in pioneer times too, but then I'd miss my wifi!!!!
Have an amazing week!
LOL me too to tell the truth. How did anyone live before wifi? Honestly though I have always held Laura Ingalls Wilder in awe. She was born on the prairie, lived in a log cabin cooking on a wood burning stove, taught school in a one room schoolhouse that doubled as the church on Sunday. But, before she died (90 years later) she lived to see electricity, vacuums, automobiles, air conditioning, refrigeration, planes and world wars...
DeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We are under construction too, this is our 4th week. A combination of a partial kitchen addition (adding shelves and counter space, pantry and broom closet and some repairs and remodeling to our girls room where the tree fell! I always thought those ladies on the DIY shows were wimps but I have a half functioning kitchen and it's been hard to function. And I am a woman with a plan! I have a Friday Link up "Frugal Friday's and we'd love to hear from you over there! I am visiting today from Meal Plan Monday!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope your remodel goes smoothly! Popping over to check out your blog. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Deletegreat post.
ReplyDeleteThank you - Have a great Thanksgiving.
DeleteWhoa. You are one busy lady! Look at that To Do List! No wonder you don't have time to read or watch TV. But I bet it'll be great when it's all done...Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU so much. Have a happy Thanksgiving too!
